Hey there! Thanks for visiting. My name’s Ahmed. I’m a gamer, tinkerer, teacher, and designer.

Many years ago, once upon a time, I was born in Downtown Cairo, Egypt. I came to the states with my family at 3 where my parents wondered, “what’s this Atari 5200 we keep hearing about?”, and so they bought one. And then something clicked. And I quickly found myself addicted to video games. This was awesome, because I grew up in the great cornfields of Illinois where there wasn’t a whole lot to do. Eventually I delved further into gaming and picked up a Dungeons and Dragons handbook where I proceeded to become a little obsessed with running games. I kept myself and my friends entertained with stories of epic proportions on the dining room table while rolling dice, slaying goblins, and looting treasure like one does in a proper D&D game. By the time college started, I was hooked on making games and stories, both on the tabletop and on the computer. By the time grad school was over, I had the chance to put my skills to use in the game design industry.

Three years later, I’ve worked aside some very talented people at BioWare and 38 Studios, as well as given talks at MIT on game design and taught game design at a Harvard University game design camp. While I love games, I can be caught at times learning how to play my violin, climbing rocks, writing stories, or doing some improv acting.

Thanks again for visiting! And feel welcome to drop me a line.
